My husband and I are both 57 years old. Our children have left home, and we have an empty bedroom. We live in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, near Germantown and Manyunk in a medium-size house.
I would like to practice Chinese because I majored in Chinese in college and I would like to revive it so that I can go to China or teach Chinese to American children. I have forgotten most of what I learned, but it may come back quickly.
W e are offering a room in exchange for conversationa l practice and a little help with Chinese lessons. By 'little help,' I mean half an hour three times a week. We would expect this person to be neat as well as help dust and sweep the first floor. We will discuss how to work out meals and food.
We live about half a mile from a bus stop on Ridge Ave. in Phila.

I am a beginner, I have some knowledge as I have visited Thailand a number of times.
My plan is to retire to Thailand as I am 62 years old.
I would like to become fluent in the written and spoken language due to my retirement plans.
My time is very flexible as I am retired. I will be visiting Thailand Sept. 15 - December 11 after that I will be available for lessons.
I feel I will learn better in a one on one setting as I prefer to become completely immersed in the experience minimizing distractions.
