I am currently a full time student at the university of florida majoring in philosophy and going into my senior year. I am home in tampa for the summer and would like begin learning foreign languages. I am a highly intelligent student looking to expand my knowledge, I love learning! I am a former militay linguist with a background in Spanish and Haitian Creole. I had some training in Modern Standard Arabic. I lived and worked in Somalia during the early 1980's, and worked as a cryptanalyst for one of those 3 letter government agencies in the Somali language. I seek to learn Somali in order to further my understanding of the culture and thought process of these unique people. I may decide to again work for the US government in attempting to stabilize this area. I look for lessons that will allow me to be able to converse and understand the nuances of the language. I am willing to dedicate 8+ hours per day to study. I want to learn to think ing he language, and m not really interested in translation. The other languages that I learned at the Defense Language Institute were taught in the manner that 'when you start to dream in it, you are beginning to really get it' That is what i am looking for.

I plan to move to either Spain or Portugal when I graduate in NY. I have absolutely no experience in Spanish or Portuguese. I want to be completely fluent in Portuguese and Spanish in the next 4 years. I'm willing to dedicate at least 10 hours a week.
