I am a beginner/inte rmediate level Japanese speaker, and I wish to continue increasing my level of proficiency. I have always been interested in Japanese culture, and as I am an engineer I realize that the US must continue to partner with other nations in order for the good of everyone.
I can (and do on my own) dedicate a large amount of time to studying spoken Japanese. I feel that I most need help with grammer, and to practice everyday conversationa l skills.
The qualities that I would look for in a teacher are: native speaker, ability to explain proper usages, and someone with patience and a friendly personality.

I am currently taking arabic 120, the beginning course at Grossmont community college. I need a hand operation so can't take the next course this summer. Would like to take time over the summer to improve reading.Do not want to loose what I have learned so far. I can devote an hour or two per week. Am retired so schedules are usually not a problem. Objective is to read a newspaper and understand arabic news casts. Want first hand understanding of whats happening in the mideast.Would like to start mid June, after the semester is over.
