I would be learning Ukrainian as a complete beginner. I am interested in learning it because I aminterested in the culture and language and I hope to travel there some day. I would probably want to have lessons once a week. I have just completed one year of college level Portuguese and would like to keep learning over the summer.
I am planning to study abroad in Brasil in the spring semester of this coming year, so I want to be at least an intermediate speaker by next winter. I will be taking the second level Portuguese class at my university in the fall and want to be well prepared.
I think I need the most practice at listening comprehension . I have learned all the grammar in my class, but I really need to work on vocabulary and understanding different accents.
I will most likely be working full time this summer, so I guess 2-3 hours a week is the max amout of time I can spend on actual langugage lessons.
I would like an enthusiastic, patient teacher. I would like my instructor to only speak in Portuguese and correct my mistakes when I speak incorrectly.

I am French but fluent in English. Working at NASA Greenbelt for a year or two, I would like to take Finnish lessons to be able to understand and start to speak as my wife is Finnish.
I have been listening Finnish at home for 4 years, and I understand some basics but I am not able to understand adults conversation neither to speak. I took few hours of lesson 2 years ago, but it was not enough to start to catch the language.
I think 20 to 30 hours would allow me to grab the basics grammar and vocabulary.
My ultimate goal is to be able to understand any type of conversation and to answer with the basic language.
