I am a beginner with no previous foreign language experience. I intend to visit the Russia, Belarus or Ukraine later this year.
I am terrible at rote memorization, but I can assimilate rules and patterns, and can learn somewhat well when I can actually use a skill. So trying to learn isolated phrases or sentences from a textbook is not very productive for me.

Proficiency level -- Total beginner
Why -- I've been wanting learn for years but no one taught it and I am planning to move there for work and I like the language.
Ti me -- Since I am in college now at a fast pace I can only do once a week, that is until I graduate and/ or my class load lightens up.
Qualitie s -- fun and interesting. I get bored enough in my classroom at school all week.

I am a beginner in Russian, and I am an intermediate in Spanish. I am only 15 years old, but I have a very strong passion for languages. I want to be able to speak in Russian and in Spanish. I am taking a Russian language course in school, bit I am not happy with the pace of the class. I never feel challenged by it, and I am always ahead of everyone else. There are only 5 people in the classroom. Those 5 people are in Russian 1 and 2! I soaked up Spanish easily, and I am still studying this language. I will take it until the AP level. I want to learn Russian grammar and conversation. I know how to conjugate verbs ending in ат ;ь (present tense only) and I know the Cyrillic alphabet. I also know dates, a few numbers, and ordinal numbers. I am learning this beautiful language to keep myself entertained; plus, Russian will be an asset for European trade. If I study Russian for 10 years, I will be a pro at it by the time I am 25! I don't know how much time I could spend with my teacher; it depends on rates. I want a teacher who is not afraid to give homework and be a challenge.
