Hi, I am traveling to Beijing and Shanghai for business in 1 month (July 2007).
I just want some basics in conversation to be polite and just get around. I may have some work-specific terminology (not technical) that I might ask to learn.
Hopefully we will be able to meet a few times in this very short period I have.

My family is Catalan, and so i have a basic awareness of the language and can understand more than i can speak it. I have little to know understanding of Catalan grammar, which is my biggest problem. I want a teacher who can start from the very basic level as far as grammar goes, but also consider that I am not a complete beginner because I have been around the language my whole life. I work from 9-5:30 monday through friday. Best for me would be an evening class once or twice a week. I would consider weekend classes if they are flexible.

I am a novice with nothing more than a desire to learn. I wish to learn sign language so that I may 'sing'. I have always wanted to be able to sing, but I know my limitations. I believe that by learning sign language I will not only be able to sing in a beautiful language, but be able to fulfill my dream of 'singing', and in the process have a skill that may help many of the handicapped individuals I long to relate to.

I am at an intermediate level in Chinese. I'm learning Chinese for career advancement and as a hobby. Conversation and grammar is where I need the most help. I plan to spend a lot of time practicing. I'm looking for someone who understands their language particularly well. Many people speak English, but not all people understand its mechanics or even know what an adverb is. I hope that my tutor can include bits of culture and explain some of the differences and similarities between mine and theirs.
