I am married to a Bengali speaker, took classes for a year 4 years ago.
I understand some Bengali, and learnt the alphabet but am very nervous about trying it out in conversation.
I would like to improve my conversationa l and written bengali so that we can help our son learn and I can chat with relatives and friends.

I am a beginner.
I was born in Ebngland but am originally from Bangladesh. My parents are Sylhetti and I know how to speak this dialect a little bit. My main problem I have is that when ever I want to talk to my elders in Bengali (shudho or sylhetti) I freeze up, no words come out of my mouth and what I do say soesnt make sense! I woudl prefer to learn shudho language (Dhakaya) as I wish to be able to speak it fluently. The main reason why I wish to do this is becasue I wish to get closer to my culture and to my family through the use of the language.
