Verbo Ser - exemplos

Verbo Ser is used to talk about places of origin, to state professions and occupations, and to describe inherent characteristics of people, places and things. (Permanent qualities)

Eu sou estudante.
I am a student.

Tom é professor.
Tom is a teacher.

Ela é alta.
She is tall.

Mariana é jovem.

Mariana is young.

Ela é escritora.
She is a writer.

O cachorro é pequeno.
The dog is small.

O gato é gordo.
The cat is fat.

A casa é grande.
The house is big.

Maria é casada.
Maria is married.

João é solteiro.

João is single.

Eles são simpáticos.
They are friendly.

Paris é uma cidade bonita.
Paris is a beautiful city.

Nós somos irmãs.
We are sisters.

Eu sou Americano.
I’m American.

Nós somos brasileiros.
We are brazilians.

Eu sou de São Paulo.

I am from São Paulo.

Ela é de Nova York.
She is from New York.

Verbo Ser can be used to express nationality or place of origin with the preposition de (of).
