In a small group setting students can truly learn to become fluent and use their language skills in France. There is lots of time for interaction with the teacher and other students. I help the students as they move towards their goal; I give lots of help inside and outside of classes. I have more than 20 years of teaching experience at all levels (toddlers to college students) and I know what works to having a successful experience at second language learning. My method is both oral and written as some learn better orally and others better with the written word. I cover all bases. |

Americans on the whole harbor many misconception s about grammar. I will point out the common mistakes that many Americans make while speaking their own language and show how that can interfere with the proper understanding of grammical issues that can be disastrous if they are carried into the learning of a foreign language. I will give the students transformatio n drills to enable them to correctly conjegate verbs and decline nouns. I will point out how looking for cognates help a student develop vocabulary more easily. I am also a poet, playwright and novelist and have studied several other languages than those that I propose to teach so I am keenly aware of linguistic issues. |

I generally open with some conversation practice, such as general greetings. Then the conversation can progress depending upon the level of the student(s). I challenge my students to respond to my questions so they have a chance to speak, but I also speak so they can hear the proper accent and grammar. If the student wants to work on conversation, then we do that. If they want to review grammar, I make up vocabulary and grammar sheets to complete during the session and at home. I will adapt the sessions completely to what the student would like to accomplish. |
