To me the key to learning any foreign language (I myself have learned 3) is to understand the basic grammar, rules of pronounciation, and acquire basic vocabulary...From then on study more at any pace you like and practice, practice, practice speaking, reading and writing...And then go and live among natives for 3-4 months and you will speak quite well. |

Teaching/Learning should be fun with a useful material. I think this is very much needed for progress and success. Repetition is also important for learning a new language, so I believe in going back and reviewing, repeating exercises - without being bored - as many times as needed. Being patient and motivated are also essential parts of my teaching/learning process.. :)

Being myself a student of four+ foreign languages for most of my life, I am well aware of possible individual characteristics of a learner both from self-reflection on my own experience and analysis of my classmates. Now performing a role of a language instructor, I consider my learning experience to be my main advantage. In my opinion, there are no people with no gift to master a language; no matter their learning background, age or memory, success of the learning process depends a lot on the teacher’s attitude and ability to address differences turning them into advantages. From personal experience I know that this everyday challenge can be solved through the introduction of a combination of various activities (aimed at developing different skills) and learning materials (corresponding to visual, audial, kinesthetic types of learners). While focusing on development of different skills, this combination addresses at the same time each person’s needs and peculiarities. Other important ... |

I have taught ESL in Canada and Iran for more than 10 years now and I am also a native Farsi speaker from Tehran continuing my Medical education here at University of Toronto and McGill, so it would be predicted that my classes with a foreign speaker who wishes to learn Farsi/Persian/ English would definitely be productive and successful. I am very patient, I respect my students and give them time to practice, never get mad at them and am comfortable to explain everything for as many times as they are utterly understood; a "friendly" atmosphere of my classes enhances learning for my students and "success" is expected and guaranteed :) |

My teaching philosophy begins with the student in mind constantly. In the first few classes we will discover the students' particular needs and decide together on what we should focus. My lesson plans are creative, detailed and each lesson will be diverse and varied while we learn through music, legends, traditional stories and cultural histories of Mexico and Spain in particular. |
