First I need to understand how you learn best, what you need, and what your interests are. I can certainly review and teach grammar in the traditional way, but I know that many people learn best if they feel that the lessons connect to their own goals and to the things they love. We can focus on the skills you need to engage in conversations you know you want to have, practice vocabulary that you need, depending on your field and interests, and we can make learning fun. In my teaching, I use the films, music, and texts - stories, blogs, recipes, or news articles, that are of most interest to the learner. I believe that a student should leave each lesson excited to learn more and happy to keep trying.

I offer one-on-one or group lessons in Swahili, tailored to your needs and level. Do you want basic conversationa l skills to help you in your travels? Will you be working in East Africa in a particular field? Are some of your family members Swahili speakers, and you would like to talk with them about range of subjects? Do you want to understand Swahili songs, literature or films? Do you need to work with legal documents, or medical information? Are you a visual learner? Do you read and write comfortably but struggle to speak? Do you dislike grammar lessons? Whatever your needs and learning style, I will design a course exactly suited to your goals.
