Teaching Approach

When we learn a foreign language we do it wrong. Most people try to focus on grammar and new words, but all language processes in the brain are subconscious. That means learning it doesn't mean you'll become fluent. Acquiring the langauge, however, is how you become fluent. I use comprehensbil e input to talk about a number of different topics with students, and we will do fun story activities in class to help consolidate new information.

Program Description

I teach using comprehensibl e input. The lessons are fun, and there is no need to feel like you have to speak, even if you have a low level. Input ALWAYS proceeds output. Children learn to listen before they speak, and I teach the same way. I use current research as my basis for planning my lessons. I've been teaching for 7 years, and I teach both children and adults.

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching for the past 7 years of my life. I have experience tutoring French and Spanish in university for 2 years, and 5 years in China teaching English to children and adults.

Teacher Training

I am certified in TEFL 40 hours and I have 9 years experience learning other languages and the psychology of how our brain learns languages. I currently have my own school that I started and I have been running it for a few years now.

What other relevant experience makes you a more effective teacher?
I think relevant experience that helps in my teaching is that I have studied four foreign languages, and I am fluent in Chinese by using the same method I use to teach. I studied Chinese for only about 3-4 years and I became fluent in that time.
