Teaching Approach

I have been passionate about teaching since childhood and I look forward to teach English as I consider it as a strong foundation to build on other skills and knowledge. I cannot imagine a world without English and how we would connect across the borders without a common language. I have traveled several countries and English has been my best friend making my stay enjoyable and helping me socialize with people. English being the lingua franca is the passport to the globe. As we move towards globalization , English unites borders and cultures and creates opportunities . In today’s electronic world, English has entered our homes in the form of gadgets, apps, online shopping and knowing the language makes it fun and opens door for various applications and resources.
M y ultimate aim is to create an ambience that will lower the affective filter of the students and I prefer activities that meet the diverse needs. I appreciate the importance of practice and will make sure that 80% of their time will make them participate in role plays and dialogues to get them involved and practice the language. I believe that visual and audio stimulation will result in fast and better learning. I will use a lot of bright pictures, audio tapes to stimulate them and engage the students in dialogues and role plays.
My warm ups will have games and songs and to make it fun and interesting. I prefer modelling and giving them ample examples and also stimulate their creativity. I prefer model-elabora te and question approach. I will share my personal experiences and model works to help them understand better.
For English, I will constantly try to install the habit of reading as it improves cognition and helps to acquire the language. I will present interesting stories and organize dramatic plays inspired from them to get them involved. I believe in positive reinforcement and appreciation to motivate them. I believe that exams and tests cannot always reflect an individual’s learning as there are time constraint and the exam factor that builds up tension. My focus is more on their actual learning rather than just marks. . I aim at improving their over communication leading to their overall personality development.

I have a passion for teaching and it gives me an immense pleasure and satisfaction to help students who struggle with the language. Tamil is my mother tongue and I'm up for one to one conversations online and anything you would want to know about the language. I believe that learning is fun when it is coupled with lot of activities and presented in an interesting way. I am up for teaching Tamil and English. Feel free to chose me if you are looking for a friendly teacher with lots of activities.

Teaching Experience

I have tutored kids of 4th and 5th grade for English for an year and I have always helped my friends to improve their language.

Teacher Training

Though I was not a part of a professional organization, I have always been interested in acquiring the techniques and understanding the theories of teaching a language. Currently I have completed Teach English Now! Foundational Principles, Teach English Now! Theories of Second Language Acquisition and Teach English Now! Lesson Design and Assessment by Arizona state university in Coursera. All these courses are part of Teach English as a Second Language (TESOL part 1 )certificate. I have had more than 18 years of education in English and I focus more on improving the spoken English. Tamil is my mother tongue and my innate passion for teaching makes me a right choice for teaching languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

My teaching schedule is two to four classes per week based on the convenience of the students. I understand that learners will be from a different time zone I can try to accommodate the class based on the time zones. I am available from 5 to 6 pm and between 8 and 11 pm during Sun to Thursday and between 10 am and 9 pm on Friday and Saturday (Time zone in Jeddah, GMT +3). Each sessions will be for one hour.

Payments through bank transaction after each week or each class depending on the agreement with the learner.
