English is my mother tongue, so I focus and place emphasis on using the language in situations that will arise on a day to day basis. Learning a language stimulates four different areas of the learning process which are listening, speaking, reading and writing. We will use all of these in every session.
My background is in Social Work and Psychology, but I have been teaching English in Helsinki for two years at the kindergarten level.
I believe that the best way for my students to succeed is to gain real life experience in the use of English. We may go to cafes, or hold practical exams in social situations where your developing skills can be put to the test.

My program is based on practical usage and vocabulary building. We will develop a program using a variety of topics relevant to your individual learning needs (for example, school, business, everyday English, traveling, colloquial)
Together we can improve your business prospects, or just your overall knowledge of the language.
We will read,as well listen to music and newscasts in English, and strengthen your comprehension .

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching ESL in America as a university student, and volunteering with ESL families to ease their transition to speaking English.
As a professional, I was a live in tutor and nanny for Finnish speaking children for 2 years.
Durin g this time I was also part of a project that taught migrant women, who could not read or write to speak English through means of visual and medial learning.
La ter I became a Kindergarten teacher in an English Immersion program.

What is your teaching schedule?
I am available Evenings and Weekends (not Sundays) either in person or via skype.

My payment Policy is cash or direct deposit. Late payments incur a 20% additional fee.
What other relevant experience makes you a more effective teacher?
Tho ugh myself a native English speaker, both of my parents had to learn English as a second language. I am familiar with the struggles students of all ages face, and I am able to motivate my students to overcome these things.

Cost of Lessons

Lesson cost is tailored by the student and myself as we develop a plan for their learning process.
For one lesson, once a week I would charge 25/hour. As the amount of hours increases, as well as frequency the price becomes lower per hour. 2 sessions, twice a week would be 20/hour and so on. :)
