For a serious learning, I developed a method during my teaching experience which I called strategic process.
Firstly I would like to know students' problems in terms of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Knowing problems and goals is the first important component because it tells me where we are currently and where we want to go.
Studen ts history analysis and background information is my second focus. I would like to know where the student learned the knowledge and why he/she is thinking or talking in this way. This will help me to understand what students are right now.
Then it come to the bridge step which build the connections between what we have and what we want. i will design a special curriculum for different students in order to help him/her learn intently.
The fourth step is the examination. But most of time it is not a paper exam. I will use observation to mark a student's language ability and tell students how to resolve the problems.
I also can help improve talking in a casual way, I mean not like a serious teacher-stude nt time. Sometimes maybe a game with really young students, sometime maybe a coffee time or social life in Mandarin with adults. So it all depends on where you are and what you want.

Hey, my friend Lily was a teacher here before and introduced me to come here. She said I am qualified as a teacher (tutor) in terms of my experience, so I am here to try my best. I am from mainland China and stayed in different big cities for 26 years. My hometown is in the North East of China where it is very near to Beijing, so I speak a standard Mandarin. I did my undergraduate degree in Wuhan and worked as a teacher at the Jianghan University for four years. At mean time I did different projects in different places such as, Qingdao, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Beijing, to name a few. Each year I also did traveling around the country since it is my personal interest. As a university teacher, I taught students architecture history and the history of Chinese cities since my major is architecture design in my undergraduate school. This experience improved my knowledge of communication with students, also enhanced my teaching ability. In 2002 I came to the University of British Columbia for my master degree and at mean time I had two students who like to learn mandarin. I got a great time with them. I love friends, I love people, I deem it is a blessing to know new friends. So I would like to help you improve your Mandarin if you need. I am really east going and currently working at Vancouver, so if you need help, please let me know. The best time for me is night time or weekend, but not on Sunday afternoon because of my personal life. No special requirements for age since I love kids.
