I believe the key to mastering a foreign language is confidence and interest. Once confidence is gained and there is no 'fear' attached to trying to communicate in the language learning and fluency can develop much more rapidly. Of course core grammar lessons are of vital importance, but along with this I aim to incorporate the vocabulary and topics that interest my students, therefore they can put the grammar they have learned to use in the social situations they would find themselves in.

Hello everyone! I am a 21 year old Irish university student who will be living in Rennes from September 2012. I am a native english speaker and have spent the last 5 months teaching English in an English institute in Argentina where I taught children from the age of 7, teenagers of all ages and adults. I have completed a TOEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) course and have experience teaching to all ages and abilities in all areas including conversation, grammar, aural skills and language proficiency exams. My teaching style is relaxed and casual, with much emphasis put on conversation, pronunciation and survival grammar. I am confident that I can cater and plan lessons to any needs. I would love to tutor someone or a group of young people and I think we could have a good time learning together!

Teaching Experience

During the summer of 2011 I worked as an Au Pair in Madrid, Spain, teaching English to two children aged 9 and 11. I completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) course from the University of Limerick in December 2011.
From March to August 2012 I worked as a Culture and Language Facilitator in an English Institute in Santa Cruz, Argentina. Whilst there I taught classes of children, teenagers and adults. I had specific conversation classes and I also taught a class preparing for their London Level 5 /Pearson English proficiency exams. I planned all my own lessons and taught all my classes independently .

I completed the Irish Leaving Certificate in 2010 with honours in all subjects. I am currently studying a Bachelors in European Studies in the University of Limerick and I am progressing into my third year there. I completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) course from the University of Limerick in December 2011.
