Program Description

My lessons consist of material from authentic texts, newspapers, reference books, audio, online news sources/news channels and radio.
I engage the student from the beginning with listening, reading, translation, speaking tasks and vocabulary learning.
Teaching a language is about understanding the student's strengths and weaknesses, and assessing and building lessons based on this. Teaching has to be effective and fun, with regular recaps and revision to embed understanding .
I teach online, one to one and small groups!

I teach in schools, adult college and at my local university as a languages teacher and also specialise in Economics and ESOL. I tutor, mostly at home in the student's own environment or at my home office. I can often be teaching material online/over the phone if the student cannot make the class deadline.

University educated in Foreign Languages and International Finance, Economics and Management in both the UK and Germany.
N ative English speaker.
Q ualified to teach Modern Foreign Languages (German, Spanish) in high schools in the UK. (I teach those aged between 11-18 yrs and those who wish to learn languages at business level or post A-Level at university)
A lecturer at university part time (Economics) - I lecture and tutor students from Asia who are developing their understanding of both the English Language and Business/Econ omics.

I usually expect the lessons to begin from 5pm - until later on in the evening. I also expect to work weekends tutoring, particularly around exam deadlines.
I am patient, an enthusiastic teacher and approachable. Great with young adults, having worked with students from schools involved in charitable projects such as the financial literacy initiative at Lancaster Girls High School and working with young adults as an activities coordinator in Boston, USA.
