The approach will also depend on the students interests, but essentially I try to add flavour to the lessons, by focusing on culture and geography (of my native country, Portugal) and also try to use original elements such as games, songs, internet sites, etc.
It is my understanding that learning grammar is necessary to understand the structure of a language, but the way it's taught will depend on the student. I believe the best approach is to provide exercices that make the student discover how the language works by himself, this has proven to increase understanding , memory and motivation.

The program will be built after assessing the student(s) needs and interests. It will depend essentially on the purpose of the course and how long it will last.

Teaching Experience

I have around 3 years experience in public schools and a long and varied experience as a freelancer as well, having taught private lessons to different types of students, from teenagers to professional adults.

I have a degree in Portuguese and French Language and Litterature and a 2 years specializatio n in teaching.
I also have a teachers traning course (done in Portugal).

What is your teaching schedule?
At the moment I am available either early in the morning or late in the evening and at any time on weekends.
What is your payment policy?
Us ually lessons are paid as they are given, on the same day, in cash or via paypal or bank to bank transfer for the e-learning courses (paypal fees will be added, these can vary according to the ammount received).
What locations do you teach in?
I live in Maynooth and do accept students in my house (you need to drive). Else I can travel to a distance of around 20 Km in any direction (I have a car), for an extra fee per visit, depending on the distance.
How many students per lesson?
Fo r private classes the ideal is to have 2/3 students but courses can be adapted to any situation. Whenever possible I will organise activities with other native language speakers or other students so that you can practise in a natural environment (example: a barbecue, going out shopping, watching a movie, travelling).
Do I need to buy any books, etc?
I can provide any exercices (many of them will be custom made to suit your needs and availability) , but if you would like to invest in any materials yourself, I can help you to choose.

Standard Price: 25 Euro - 1h/week
Will travel up to 20KM from Maynooth (Extra fee depending on the distance)
Discounts available in the following situations: if you buy more than one hour/week; if you want me to organize a full course for you and you pay for each module in advance; if you buy group lessons.
