Teaching Approach

Hungarian is not an easy language and I have found that students generally cannot commit more than 1-2 days a week for lessons. Consequently, after presenting the materials, I immediately apply the principle to practice, in oral drills, written exercises, and reading aloud.

Program Description

I offer personalized language instruction in Hungarian locally in the twin cities area of Minnesota. I offer 90 minute weekly 1:1 zoom classes. I have had students interested in learning enough Hungarian to be able to navigate in Hungary for a trip, American spouses of Hungarian speakers wanting to learn the language, Hungarians who grew up in a ethnic Hungarian home but didn't learn the language and now want to make that connection, and finally, folk musicians interested in learning not just the language but the culture and folklore as well as children.

Teaching Experience

I have taught Hungarian language for the past 13 years.

I worked professionall y as an instructional designer in a corporate environment and create training materials in conjunction with subject matter experts. I deliver training that is skill-based and many of the same principles apply to language instruction.
I am also a folklorist and have taught and choreographed Hungarian folk dances around the US for the past 30 years. In weave cultural elements into the coursework.

Cost of Lessons

$50 for 90 minutes on a private zoom lesson. I generally ask my students to pay at the end of each class.
