Many people don't know the similarity between Chinese Pinyin and English phonics. Most American know the basic phonics. It's very easy to learn Chinese Pinyin once you have the basic knowledge of English phonics. My students are able to read Chinese books with the help of Pinyin. It's really remarkable. It makes them feel that they have a cane to help them walk around. Once my students learn the Pinyin after few hours of lesson, it helps them to position their mouth, lips, and tongue in the right and comfortable position. One of the most difficult thing in learning foreign languages is to change our mouth position to adjust the new languages. With the help of Pinyin, you will feel so confident that you can pronounce anything in Chinese. You can talk in Chinese in few hours lesson time. I will send you all the lesson material prior to our meeting over the phone. My first lesson over the phone is free.

Hello, my name is Hongmei Zou. I have been a professional teacher for Mandarin and interpreter for more than ten years. My friendly and patient personality enable me to create most comfortable and inviting learning environment for my students( both in person and over the phone and internet). My approach is very personal and goal oriented. I am very encouraging for all the progress my students make. I gently correct them when it's necessary. I focus on students desire and passion for learning and capture their interest to direct them to more self motivated learning activities. I use fun and interesting questions to motive their desire to communicate. We learn language to communicate. I make each lesson productive and memorable.

I have been teaching small group and individual Chinese for the past ten years. I have been doing family consulting work for people who have Chinese spouses for the past ten yeas as well. I am more a facilitator than a traditional teacher who impose on the students instead of listening to the students and understand the needs of students.

I have two degrees, one is BA from China and another one is from University of Oregon. My professional life in language business have taught many valuable lessons, especially patience and understanding of the needs of my students.
