My classes are prepared individually for each student based on his/her knowledge, the facility to learn languages, the level he/she aims at and the time that is planned for the total course. If the student brings a preliminary knowledge in Portuguese, an initial test is made to evaluate the level.

Program Description
|
|
|
One of my major objectives is to enable every student to communicate with locals and - with respect to his/her level - to have a reading comprehension that allows for relating the information from newspaper articles and everyday's life texts. For more advanced students who want to focus on a certain expert vocabulary (e.g., idioms from economics, medicine, etc. ..), I usually prepare special translation exercises.
Furthermore, regular grammatical exercises are planned for all adult students in the form of prepared sheets that afterwards are corrected by the teacher - either immediately after a given class or in between classes. By this, the major part of the time during the classes can be used to teach the student idiomatic expressions.
In the case of doubts and difficulties with the Portuguese grammar, I additionally suggest grammar exercises during classes as we can talk about the problems. When teaching children that are not very advanced in Portuguese, I explain them the basic grammar as a rule of thumb and train them with many examples how to apply it correctly.

Teaching Experience

My name is Karina Marques de Sousa de Nooijer and I am a real carioca (I was born in Rio). While growing up in Santa Teresa, a beautiful, interesting and artistic neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro with many foreigners, I already had the possibility to practice my English throughout my childhood.
Later on, I became a teacher for children who I tought how to read and write in Portuguese for 6 years. In 2000, I married and moved with my husband to Europe where I started to give Portuguese classes for foreigners. Next to giving classes, I studied and improved my English in the Netherlands until returning to Brazil in 2004. Since then, I additionally gave English classes for Brazilians and Portuguese classes for foreigners until moving to Barcelona by the end of 2008.
In total I've collected my Portuguese teaching experiences in the last 15 years.

The time schedule for each course is to be arranged individually according to the required volume of hours and other courses that are scheduled at the time. In general, I accept private classes anytime and dynamically adapt with the schedule to the requirement of the student(s).
