Teaching Approach

I prepare lesson plans for every session however I also believe in being flexible in dealing with students as the situation can change very quickly in the classroom. Flexibility is also necessary because each student has different values and attitudes and the teacher must consider this in his teaching approach in order to build rapport and to properly elicit the lesson from the student. It is also good to be firm, but not strict, in order to properly guide the students toward achieving comprehension and accuracy. This approach also creates a more harmonious learning environment for all involved.

Program Description

I prefer to use the direct method wherein the teacher models the dialogue or script, and then engages with thestudents using the dialoge. The final step involves the teacher having the students speak the dialogue or script to each other or eliciting the script or dialoge from the students. I usually aim for sixty-percent (60%) efficiency with the language. I am a native English speaker with a neutral American Accent.

Teaching Experience

I have just finished a course with TEFL International in Cebu. I now have a TESOL certificate as a result of this intensive program. This program allowed me the opportunity to handle a live classroom, which is an experience I enjoyed. I hope to pursue a career with something I have a passion for and thats teaching the English language. It also enabled me to create a lesson plan and lesson materials from items available to me in a school stock room within a couple of hours.

Teacher Training

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2004 from CAP College in Legazpi Village, Metro Manila. Shortly thereafter I took two (2) years of Law Proper at The University of the East in Recto. Though I didn't complete my post graduate Law course, the course provided me with experience in public speaking that I have used to good effect. Recently, in August of 2008, I completed my TESOL training course with TEFL International in Cebu and hold a TESOL certificate.
