My lessons cover the Russian language more in depth, not just focusing on rules, but providing history and explanation of these rules. Teaching a student to read, write and speak properly is my main focus. All lesson plans are customized to the specific needs and interest of every student and I strive to make each lesson exciting as well as intellectual.
From beginner to more advanced, I am able and willing to help you take your Russian to the next level.

Program Description

My teaching program is customized according to the specific skills and abilities of each student. The program moves at a pace comfortable to that of each student. I assess each student on their progress with homework assignments and revise problematic areas on a continuing basis.
Apart from the necessary grammar, spelling, reading and writing exercises, my lessons are usually related to topics of interest to each student.

I am a native Russian and Ukrainian speaker.
I have been teaching Russian to foreigners of the language, young and old, for 10 years already.

Teacher Training
|
|
|
I studied at Kiev State University and completed my BA(Hons) degrees in Russian Language and BA (Hons) in Ukrainian Language.
I worked for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kiev, Ukraine before I came to South Africa.
In South Africa I worked at the Ukrainian Embassy for many years.
Apart from a Russian tutor, I am a freelance journalist for BBC Russia and BBC Ukraine, and have written articles and blogs for them of many interesting events in South Africa.

Teaching schedules are decided upon based on the ability and willingness of each student.
I prefer students to pay per lesson or in advance for a number of lessons. Missed lessons will be made up if the student has giving a notice prior to a cancellation (within a reasonable time).
I usually give my students multimedia material, such as music, movies and books, to immerse them not only in the Russian language, but also the Russian culture.
