I strongly believe in a student’s ownership of their own learning. I guide them with hands-on experiences and numerous practices with me. I therefore respect everyone’s unique learning style and pace, with patience and flexibility.

Program Description
|
|
|
I developed a 4-week long curriculum for beginners, which covers basic reading and writing of the Korean alphabet (Hangul). After that, students will learn basic sentence structure and grammar using a textbook published by a local university. The textbook helps students to build up their vocabulary and practice useful conversationa l dialogue. Throughout the curriculum, students are able to practice a lot of drills of dialogues and speak conversationa l Korean.
My curriculum also emphasizes the cultural components including visual and audio learning (movies and songs), a trip to a Korean restaurant, and other cultural events. I believe that mastering a foreign language allows students to experience a richer experience not just of another culture, but also of their own culture, by finding lots of similarities and differences across cultures.

I have taught 6 years at Korean Community based school to teach adults and kids. I have Ph.D. in Education, graduated from State University of New York (SUNY) in 2001. I worked on my master's thesis on the foreign language teaching and its implications.

Q: What is taching schedule?
A: Flexible depending on student's schedule. The weekday evenings or any time on weekends are available at this time.
Q: What is the payment policy?
A: I accept cash after each lesson.
Q: Where would the lesson take place?
A: It is flexible. it can be teacher's home, or in library, in coffee shop as long as it is relatively quiet.
Q: Is there textbook required?
A: For basic reading and writing of Hangul, teacher will provide the copy. For textbook after mastering Hangul, students are encouraged to purchase it.

Cost of Lessons

I charge $30 per hour for individual and $35 per group lesson.
I only teach students who lives in Seattle area or Bainbridge Island unless students are willing to come in to my place. I do not drive and only use public transportatio n. I would prefer students coming to my place at Bainbridge Island neighborhood or willing to meet in the vicinity of Seattle or Bainbridge Island downtown.
