I'm an American and an anthropologis t living in Tokyo. I will be here at least three years but I would like to be here longer if I can get a job in a Japanese university at the end of my current contract. I am very motivated to learn but I need guidance. I think I am at an advanced beginner stage. I know several hundred words and understand grammar but I cannot speak or listen well. I would like to study with a teacher at least once a week.
I hope the teacher is organized and can not only correct me but help me make a study plan.

Ever since I was a kid, I really loved Anime needless to say that is my main motivation on why I want to learn Japanese. Other than that, I have grown to like the country itself and want to know more about it, and be able to interact with natives. I've tried self learning but unfortunately it didn't work out, I've come to realized that it's better for me to have a little bit of pressure when it comes to learning. I am currently a full-time college student and my semester is about to end in about two days or so. That is why I decided that instead of lazing around the whole summer vacation, I might as well use it to pursue learning the language I've been wanting to learn. I am willing to take lessons anytime of the day. I am quite shy, so it would be nice to have a teacher that can coax me out of my shell.
