I am moving to Shenzhen in June and I am looking to learn Mandarin for basic getting around/doing stuff. I am looking to spend about 1-2 hours a week learning. I would also like to learn about the chinese customs and culture and etiquette and generally things that will help me in daily life. I will working in Hong Kong a few days a week but feel that Mandarin is best language to learn.

Dear Potential Teacher
I would like to enroll with you to learn at beginners level, Chinese Mandarin.
I have booked a grand tour of China, departing 18 March 2009. My travels will encompass journeys from Beijing to Shanghai for 28 days. I have a deep respect for the culture and traditions in China and will try and absorb as much of this culture during my time in China.
During this period of time I would like to be able to converse with the locals on a daily basis to cover normal situations such as discussing traditions, seeking directions and purchasing items in markets and stores.
I am a Business Manager of 56 years old and a quick learner. I am prepared to dedicate, 5 or 7 days a week of recommended session times to ensure basic learning of the language prior to trip, I am prepared to pay in advance for lessons.
H aving a dedicated teacher is very important to me and being in a Live - in person environment of a small size group is the most beneficial way of learning for myself. the Language School offers that service which I am applying for.
Thank you for your consideration in assisting me to learn Mandarin. I hope to hear from a potential teacher soon to confirm lessons.

I am a beginner in Chinese, Mandarin. I have studied for a semester at university and have some basic conversationa l skills.
I want to learn another language or two for career opportunities in the future and travel purposes as well.
I feel like I need to work on my tones, grammar and fluency the most.
I would like to do at least 5 hours a week of practical in order to become really proficient in the language.
