Hi there, I am working in HK from NZ and looking to improve my Cantonese. I have a basic level of Cantonese and wish to advance my vocab and improve my tones. My focus is oral. I would like face to face tutoring 1-2 hours per week in the evenings.
I'm looking for a teacher who is quite systematic in his/her approach and can improve my tones. I would like the whole lesson conducted in Cantonese as much as possible, minimal English.

I would like to learn Cantonese since it is the local language in the country I've been living for for most of my life.
I'd also like to learn Bisaya as it is my mother's mother tongue, and we visit Cebu every year.
I speak broken Cantonese, and I'm a beginner at Bisaya. The areas I need for improvement in Canto are grammar, and for Bisaya, it'd probably be conversation. I'm willing to dedicate a LOT of time to learn.
I would like.. hmm. A teacher that's patient and not too serious. :)

I have been learning Cantonese since I arrived in Hong Kong 18 months ago- 1 hour private lessons once a week. Having spent 2 years in Vietnam and with some remaining command of Vietnamese, I choose private lessons as I already had some facility with a tonal language. I have reached a plateau and feel I need to concentrate more on my listening skills in order to progress and so am looking to change teacher to assist with this.
I speak fluent French (learnt as an adult), good Spanish and have some basic German, Arabic and Japanese, in addition to the Vietnamese. I also taught English for a couple of years. This means that I think I have a good idea of how I learn languages and how I can progress.
I am a 'good' student, fitting in some practice/home work outside class. I am free on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm and happy to have the class in my home.
