I wish to improve my vocabulary and ability to communicate in Cantonese. I am of Chinese background but was raised in Canada. I have a basic level of Cantonese but wish to be able to discuss more complex issues i.e. world affairs, my opinion on various topics. At this stage learning to read and write is not a goal.
My teacher should be be someone who also speaks English well and understands North American culture and values.

I would like to learn Cantonese to communicate in the short term because my sport activities involve a lot of Cantonese, and in the long term because I would like to eventually apply to positions in the work environment that require to be speak Cantonese.
I am fluent in Mandarin and Japanese (spoken and written), so I think I mainly need to focus on spoken Cantonese but to practice the writing might be helpful especially in situations where Mandarin and Cantonese do not use the same characters.
