I lived in Japan 1961-1965. Took one year of H/S Japanese and 2 semesters of Japanese at the University of Maryland extension college while still in Japan. I was a missionary in Japan for the next 2 1/2 years. I then taught English Lessons for the last 6 months prior to returning to the U.S.
I would like to revisit the language and take it as far as I can. On my own for the last 6 months I have gone through 2 out of 3 levels in Rosetta Stone, finished 2 out of 3 book in the Japanese for Busy People series.
I am interested in conversation and reading of the language. I want to learn Kanji to be able to read and facilitate acquiring vocabulary. I am not interest in the art of writing Kanji, since my handwriting is not good even in English.
I would like have the teacher come to the home. The teacher could be a man or a woman. If a woman, I can make sure that my wife is present.
