I am planning to travel to China this summer, and would like to learn basic Chinese to make the most of my trip. I have never studied Chinese before, but am dedicated and a quick learner, and fascinated enough by Chinese culture that I'd put in the extra hours to learn as much as possible in the short time period. I'm traveling to see the Shanghai Expo 2010 - I am a biology student and researching a project on Eco-cities; then, I hope to travel freely and experience other parts of China. I would like to take classes 2 to 3 times a week, I work part-time so evening classes during the week would be ideal, or afternoons on the weekend. I'm looking for classes with an emphasis on conversation and what I would need to get by, though some teaching of written Chinese would be useful as well. I'd like to learn mostly through one on one classes, and also through recommendatio ns of music and films.
