Description

After taking a trip to Nepal and falling in love with the country, I've been trying to find the right resources to study the language properly. My hope is to return soon (in one year) to live there for a while and focus on Buddhist studies. I'd like to use my year wisely so that I have a good enough grasp on Nepali to be able to then shift to the Tibetan Buddhist texts without confusion.

Though I've attempted to learn a few things on my own, I am a complete beginner. I've heard that many people do not try to learn the Devanagari alphabet in the beginning, and while my priority is to become conversationa lly comfortable for living abroad, I am interested in all aspects of the language as per the advice of my teacher.

I currently have a very flexible schedule and can spend 2-5 hours on learning/imme rsion activities per day. Occasionally work may prevent me from putting in as many hours, but I am motivated and believe that more is more when it comes to the early stages of language learning.

Because I'd like to put in more hours than is financially possible for pure 'classroom time', I'd very much appreciate a teacher who can help support my language study outside of teaching sessions. You thought you'd never hear it said, but please, give me homework!
