English in Provence?
I am a Norwegian woman who is planning to go to Provence next fall, but am a bit afraid to after hearing that many French can`t or just won`t talk English? I don`t speak French. Will I be totally helpless in Provence?

Re:English in Provence?
I have been in Paris, having spent only a few months learning French. I found that if you try, show you respect the language, and can at least ask "can you speak English " (Parlez-vous Anglais?) and can count, they will help you out, and most stores and ALL museums have English speakers.

Re:English in Provence? yes
Hi Eva,
I'm french and I live in provence. Effectively, some of french people don't speak english very well, but a lot do. with a machine-translator or a conversation book, it's ok. Don't be afraid, you'll have a good time !!
I didn't speak english during my first trip in California, it was pretty fun !!

HI I'm Australian living in US...actually visiting LA now! I lived in Marseille 1 1/2 months and loved it...but still find the French 'ways' complexing! I would like to learn the language fluently and understand these cultural differences!
