Do you want to share ideas about nationalism?( not propaganda!)
I had to write an essay during a Spanish test which subject was: do you agree Einstein's statement: "Nationalism is a childhood disease of humanity"? What does this mean to you? I spoke about the pain causes by nationalism during the 20th century... I said nationalism was a delinquent love of homeland which only conveys hatred between peoples. I found it was inherent to human nature which is apt to feel fear. But I conclude saying that nowadays the notion of nation was declining due to globalization. Links between countries are more and more numerous as regards politics, economy or culture. And as problems raise all over the world, they must be solved together; that is why international organizations such as UNO exist. I ended with optimism... Don't you find we must be hopeful?

Nationalism has always existed and always will but it changes as the world changes. Nowadays we can talk more about communities, people feel closer to a community than to a country. A nation is made of several communities that live together, side by side but sometimes don't feel like there all part of the same country. Maybe nationalism is not going to disappear but to be less strong. It is particularly true in developped countries were lots of foreign people migrated to find a job. They must live together with their differences and learn to be a nation united. We can be optimistic because melting-pot may cause less war, I hope so. In other countries (developping countries) nationalism is stronger but not dangerous.

I agree that nationalism, in its negative sense, is a disease of humanity, and I wonder, if mere passing of time would cure it.
I believe that if people love their cultural heritage, they will survive as a culture without any nationalistic ideologies or campaigns.
