Re:make friends
Hello Ming. It depends on what part of the country you are in, because every part of the country has their own slang and terminology. Say what part of the country, (North East, South East, Central, South West, or North West) and someone will help you.

Re:Re:make friends
rick is quite right about regional slang variations...
but he does forget that the bulk of English is spoken outside the United States and that the slang varies from region to region within each country

Re:make friends
Hi! Since you are so interested in slangs here are some:
1)bail out--"are you bailing out on me?" = are you leaving me? 2)bogus--uncool "he's bogus!"= he's uncool 3)buzz--phone call "give me a buzz when you have time" 4)later= bye "gotta go, later!"
Hope it helps :)

Re:Re:make friends
Hi Jenny
All very useful expressions...though sometimes you have to be careful about nuance...
"Bail" doesnt simply mean leave.....so much as it suggests "abandon"....
For example...We were going to stay up all night drinkin but George bailed...or we decided to drive to boston but harriet bailed
The idea is that the person didnt follow through on the plan...:))))
bogus is definitely uncool but with a hint of phoney...which of course is the original meaning of the word...it doesnt just suggest that the person is uncool but also that they are phoney or posers
and of course "later" is simply a contraction of the phrase "see you later" or "catch you later"
slang is so much fun...:))
regards

Re:make friends
Here are some: OK, K, or Oky Doky - they are all signs of agreement. Any of the above with a question mark implies that the person talking want to check that you are happy to do something. Finally "You OK?" usually means that the person is worried that you are unhappy. The first is almost universally used, the second occasionally used now by particular sections of young people and the third mostly used by "Fogglies" ie old people who are not very cool.
Example: "Do you want to go out? "K. Where shall we go?"
"Let's go to bingo on Saturday. Oky Doky?" "I'd rather go old-time dancing."
"You OK?" "No, I've had a rotten day."
